Together with the planets and the signs of the zodiac, the houses constitute the third most important element in the construction and delineation of a horoscope. Along the lines of the historical surveys of the zodiac and the planets already published in this series, this short history of the houses will attempt to give the reader a basic overview from a historical perspective of the various house divisions.
